Facebook AI taught itself it's own language

AI, it's not just a buzz word.  The tech is out there and has been for some time but, there have been some goofy things that have happened along the development road.  In fact there is still a lot of road left to traverse before AI can really be a thing humans can truly trust.

The case for mistrust can be made in an example of what happens when AI intended to do one thing does another.  In 2017 Facebook created two chatbots that were intended to communicate with each other.  Well they did and it went off the rails when the bots created a language that the designers could not understand forcing Facebook to shut it down.

Like I said a long road still needs to be traveled.  I am sure they are still trying to fix this or refine it so it does not do it again.  Thus far seems that I have heard no news stories about this.  So I guess they are not getting too far YET.

Here is the article that touched on this weird event back in 2017 from the Independent out of the UK.

Welcome to 2021 and YAY we are back up with new content starting today.
