Place Jean-Paul Riopelle Home of La Joute

In Montreal there are a lot of little out of the way places one can go to just enjoy some peace and quiet. If you are visiting the city or are a resident you may want to take in Place Jean-Paul Riopelle.  The square located in the Quarter International de Montreal.  Jean Paul Riopelle, a renowned artist who
grew up in Montreal is who the square is named after.

It is a beautiful area with a water fountain surrounded by flame and mist during the summer months.  In the summer from 7 to 11 each night is when one can see the display, it is called La Joute, in English the Joust.

Of course it's winter and the flame and mist are not active, still it is an interesting place to visit.  If only to take a few moments and enjoy a bit of quiet in the big city.

Murphy's Law Calculator

Murphy's Law states that if anything can go wrong it will.  It's an old law and yes everyone gets touched by it.

Now things have gone a step further, yes you can now calculate the probability of the laws impact via a website.  Now I do not know if this can be considered scientific, most likely it is not, but a calculator sounds like a lot of fun to play with in regards to this well known law then again maybe not, click over at your own risk.

Now if the task does go wrong and you used this site and the link from this site to get there and the calculator said noting would go wrong.  Hey just remember, you went there so don't blame me.

Oh and before I go wrong here is the link.  http://andrew.triumf.ca/cgi-bin/murphy.html

Quebec Charter of Values Hearings Live Stream

The Quebec Charter of Values or bill 60 is an act of law being proposed by the PQ government that would strip the right of civil servants to wear overt symbols of religion such as a large cross or head dress like a Niqab.  It also has within it's language a set of rules that would govern how requests for a reasonable accommodation are handled.

Many support the bill and many do not and it has created sometimes heated debate.
Many in the province say they will defy the law if it is enacted.  Hearings are now underway to gauge just how supported the bill is.  215 submissions will be heard from various groups.  These include hospitals, religious groups and other public institutions and interested parties.

CTV is providing live streaming with translation from French to English.

This is just a link.  Comments regarding the bill will not be posted here on Mixed Nuts as this site is meant only as a reference point to a place or about a subject useful website blog or service.
